The role
We are a rapidly scaling, UK-listed public company operating in a capital-markets-driven environment. As the Group grows in complexity - across subsidiaries, acquisitions, treasury activity and governance - we are creating a senior executive role to strengthen operational execution and financial control.
The Financial Controller will own the financial engine room: ensuring that agreements, processes, controls, reporting inputs and operational mechanics are executed with precision and pace.
It is a highly visible leadership role working directly with the CEO, CFO, Board and advisers, with scope to grow alongside the company as scale and complexity increase.
Key responsibilities
Financial control & group operations
- Own the integrity, accuracy and completeness of group financial information feeding into:
- Monthly management accounts
- Bi-annual reporting and audit processes
- Board packs and investor materials
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including:
- Coordination with external bookkeepers and payroll providers
- Review and control of accounting outputs and reconciliations
- Ensuring consistency and robustness across group entities
- Support the CFO in maintaining strong audit trails, documentation and internal controls appropriate for a listed company.
Commercial, contractual & operational execution
- Take ownership of commercial agreements, counterparties and operational commitments that directly impact financial performance.
- Ensure that contracts, acquisitions, treasury arrangements and group obligations are accurately reflected in financial reporting and governance records.
- Act as the operational counterpart to the CFO on complex matters where detail, structure and execution are critical.
Subsidiaries & acquisitions
- Oversee operational and financial integration of subsidiaries and acquisitions.
- Work closely with the Head of Acquisitions to:
- Support due diligence
- Assist with post-acquisition integration
- Move towards centralised group accounting and reporting processes.
Governance, risk & compliance
- Play a key role in corporate governance, working alongside the CEO, CFO and Chair to ensure:
- Board and committee documentation is accurate, complete and well-maintained
- Decisions, approvals and minutes are properly recorded and stored
- Support enterprise risk management, including financial, operational and counterparty risk.
- Assist with group insurance arrangements and ongoing coverage review.
Capital markets & strategic support
- Support the CEO and CFO on operational and administrative aspects of capital markets activity, including:
- Equity raises
- Other capital markets instruments
- Investor communications and presentations
- Ensure underlying data, assumptions and documentation are robust and consistent.
People, remuneration & infrastructure
- Assist in developing and improving group remuneration and benefit structures, including:
- Share-based incentives
- Salary sacrifice schemes
- Pension and benefit optimisation
- Support recruitment and retention initiatives as the group scales.
Experience & skills
This role is suited to a senior finance-led operator who thrives in environments where precision matters more than volume, and where leadership means doing, not delegating.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS)
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
- Strong financial control experience within a listed environment.
- Exceptional organisational and administrative discipline - you finish what you start.
- The ability to move seamlessly between:
- Finer detail and acurate reporting and;
- Senior-level discussions with the Board and advisers
- A pragmatic, commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Comfort working in a lean team where external advisers supplement - not replace - internal ownership.
- A “get it done” mentality aligned with a fast-moving, execution-focused culture.
This is not a role for someone who expects layers of staff beneath them or who prefers to push tasks elsewhere. It is a senior position with real impact and real accountability.
Why join?
- Executive-level role with direct access to the CEO, CFO and Board.
- Significant influence over how the group is built, structured and governed.
- Exposure to capital markets, acquisitions and strategic decision-making.
- Competitive salary, meaningful bonus opportunity and long-term equity participation.
- Clear scope to grow with the business as scale, complexity and leadership needs evolve.
